The New Students perform original songs in an eclectic blend of folk, roots, alternative and Americana traditions. With tight three-part harmonies, skilful acoustic instrumentation and compelling lyrics, the Students always deliver a laid-back, quirky but heartfelt show. 

Bellport native Justin Flagg and Brookhaven native Matt Gelfer started singing songs together when they were in High School, imitating the sound of Simon & Garfunkel.  In 2006 they were joined by Brooklyn's Briana Carlson-Goodman, later to be seen on the Broadway stage, to form The New Students.  Joined by their trusty rhythm section, Sam Gelfer on bass and Jason Rosoff on percussion, they released their first self-produced album "Ship of Fools" in 2010. Their third album, "Endless Sea" (2017) blends timely social commentary, old time bluegrass, and introspective singer-songwriter style.  All of the New Students music is available at their shows, and wherever digital music is sold.  

Moving with ease from poignant to playful to political, the New Students celebrate the folk tradition in all of its forms.  With classic bluegrass numbers, timely original songs and beloved sing-alongs, there is truly something for everyone.
